Location: Los Angeles, California

Position Summary: A controller must be adept in all standard accounting procedures in addition to those unique to the music industry including, in depth experience with artist and publisher contract recoupability and asset accounting. Critical knowledge to also include the retail music landscape, both digital and brick and mortar. The company is self distributed in the US and has three subsidiaries. Candidate is responsible for the month end closing process to include accruals for returns reserve, co-op advertising, artist mechanical and publishing royalties, inventory accounting and booking of overhead.
The position entails monthly and quarterly analyses and production of all key financial statements, incorporating accounting standards and taxation rules associated with the music industry. Candidate is responsible for month end closing process to include accruals for return reserve, co-op advertising, artist and mechanical royalties, inventory accounting, and booking of overhead. Produce statements for joint venture artist and sub-distributed label deals. Completion and review of consolidated monthly reporting including a cash flow forecast in order to report to managers and executives with commentary and analysis of results. Produce year end statutory accounts and liaise with auditors and lead account team in the annual audit process. Use specialize royalty software programs. Responsible for the production of yearly budgeted and monthly reforecasted accounts for whole group.

Qualifications:Masters Degree in accounting, finance or management. Four years of experience working with small or independent international record companies. Requires working knowledge of contract recoupability, counterpoint software, and US, and European accounting standards.
